Okay, I can't claim to be shocked, because well, Leland pretty much had "PSYCHO" written all over him from the Pilot on. However, the denouement? Was outstanding. The flashbacks to the dreams, the old man, "My father killed me," oh man, I had shivers.
A few other thoughts...it's eerie how much Lara Flynn Boyle changed over one season. The weight loss sure, but her face is almost like a perfect square...someone hit the plastic surgery hardcore once they found out the show was renewed.
I find Shelly/Madchen Amick extremely annoying. The squeaky voice, the black eyebrows with light brown hair, the fact that her lameness is allowed to rub off on Bobby, who is probably my third favorite character on the show. She's just very frustrating.
Bobby...*sigh*. Bobby. Love him so, so much. Laura, however could you have cheated on him with James? And Bobby, you couldn't have fallen in love with someone worthy of you? C'mon, you and Audrey could run Twin Peaks. In fact, were I a fanfic writer, I would write future fic where Bobby and Audrey take over the Svengali positions held by Ben Horne and Katherine Martell. Twin Peaks: The Next Generation.
All that said, I would have Audrey embark on a tragic affair with Agent Cooper first...one that would leave her heartbroken and cynical and explain her future mercenary tendencies. The fact that I'm like 90% sure that nothing really will come of the Audrey/Cooper teases (damn his honorability) upsets me more than I'd like to admit. It's possible I rewatched the scenes of him rescuing her from One-Eyed Jacks more than once. Okay, three times.
Despite being an almost perfect combination of Christian Slater and Kevin Dillon, James manages to not have a single one of their attributes...be it sly charm, dumb likeability, or even creepy hotness. I'm stunned, stunned, that we never heard from this actor again. I actually can't even remember his name now, and I just got done watching 6 episodes.
So, now the big question. Do I keep watching? I've heard I may be better off leaving Twin Peaks while I still have fond memories of its awesomeness. However, I know myself well enough to know that since I have all the eps, I'm gonna have to watch them. I also know myself well enough to know that I may end up loving the back half of S2 just to be contrary.
In addition to finding out the answers to one of life's greatest mysteries...I also managed to clean my entire apartment (including dusting my bookshelves and fireplace), iron all of my summery linen-y clothes, and cook up a pot of

James Hurley aka James Marshall oddly enough is still around : http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0550929/
There's also the Twin Peaks movie to consider as well:http://www.imdb.com/title/tt010566
Just pull up a chair and have a cup of Joe and a piece of damn fine cherry pie.

And I've actually seen probably the first half-hour of the movie before I got freaked out and shut it off.
As for S2, I'm sure I'll watch all of it just for any possible Audrey or Bobby goodness.

I hated James. James always had this stupid expression on his face like he'd just gotten hit by a 2 by 4.
And I'll be interested in hearing what you think of Season 2. It's been ages since I've seen it, but I still remember watching it and thinking WTF?

Not!LauraMaddie. He's totally fickle but hides it behind this whole "sensitive brooder" persona. Hate him.As for S2, since I spent most of S1 going "WTF?" I'm very curious to see how much more bizarre it can get.

Watch the second half of the season. It won't be paid off nearly as well as you want it to be, but there is a good bit of Bobby/Audrey interaction. Plus, David Duchovny is in two or three episodes as a DEA agent named Denise. Just brace yourself for the pain of Heather Graham.
I remember a few weeks ago you were looking for Twin Peaks icons. Did you ever find any? I'd love a Cooper/Audrey one.

And ooh...that was such a mistake to get my hopes up for Bobby/Audrey interaction. But no matter what happens, in my mind they're the two who'd end up living, not quite happily, but definitely ever after together. They're so perfect for each other.
